- Profile
Located only one hour north of Edmonton, this ski hill spreads over 140 acres and offers 24 downhill runs, 15 km of scenic cross country ski trails, snowshoe trails and a tubing hill. For those who crave a challenge, the main terrain park has “hits”, “rails”, and “funboxes”. There is also a mini park with small features for those who are new to terrain parks.
The ski area was established in 1967 for Canada’s Centennial and has operated ever since. Over the span of the last 55 years, the hill has grown to meet the needs of winter outdoor enthusiasts. Tawatinaw Valley offers runs to suit everyone’s needs, from novice to advanced in both Alpine and Nordic aspects. There are 2 T-bars and a conveyor/carpet lift which provide access to all downhill runs and the terrain park. There is a large chalet with a licensed cafeteria offering homestyle cooking and Pub nights with tubing on Saturdays. Ski, snowboard, snowshoe and tube rentals are available. Ski and Snowboard lessons are available for individuals and groups. There are a variety of fun clubs available for kids of all ages. School groups are welcome to book during the week for any of our fun activities.
Nordic skiing can be accessed from the upper parking lot and Snowshoe Trails from the lower parking lot; please ensure that you stop at the Chalet to check in or purchase your pass online before heading out.
Purchase your day lift ticket, season pass, lessons and rentals and complete your waivers right on the website for a seamless and fast start to your day on the hill.
Each season the ski hill hosts the Tawatinaw Valley Loppet prior to the annual Alberta Birkebeiner.
